Description: Taos Summer Solstice Yoga Retreat
Join us in magical New Mexico for the Karma Yoga Center Summer Solstice Yoga Retreat at the Taos Goji Eco-Lodge and Farm (only 4.5hrs away!) from June 17-19. Pack your yoga mat, bathing suit, walking shoes, and writing journal- everything else is provided. Soak up the healing waters of Ojo Caliente Hot Springs and the radiant sun light of the Summer Solstice for our rejuvenating weekend in the land of Enchantment- Taos New Mexico.

Each day begin with an optional guided mediation as the morning sunlight dances into our sweet log cabin yoga studio. Coffee will be ready by 6:15am 🙂 Our morning yoga session follows with views of the lush gardens and farm. Share breakfast either on our covered porch or in the in the Trading Post Kitchen.
Our hike will be in the National Forest Lands that are a 5 min walk form the Goji Berry Eco Lodge. On our gentle hike we will wind through the groves of pine trees with beautiful views of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. We will have a group ceremony to honor the energy of the Summer Solstice- the longest day of light in the year.
Our retreat will celebrate and soak at the spectacular Ojo Caliente Hot Springs on Sunday morning for our final group gathering. Attendees can share our self-discoveries while soaking and sunning in the nourishing pools. There will also be free time where attendees can explore on their own the town of Taos, The Hanuman Temple, Taos Pueblo, The Rio Grande Gorge, or any of the many architectural, cultural, spiritual and natural wonders of the Land of Enchantment.

Taos Goji Eco-Lodge and Farm
Taos Goji Eco Lodge and Farm is nestled in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains 11 miles north of Taos on Highway 522. Once a small satellite trading post of Taos, the Eco Lodge and Farm has transformed the 9 private cabins and central Trading Post into an eco- village perfect for hosting our Summer Solstice yoga retreat. This little village has been a retreat for many decades, regularly hosting such spiritual and writing luminaries as Ram Dass, D.H. Lawrence, Elizabeth Kubler Ross, Timothy Leary, and Aldus Huxley. The Eco-Lodge and Cabins are located on 40 acres surrounded by National Forest and Wilderness Lands.
The Farm and Eco-Village is run by a couple with their children and grandchildren. As founding members of the near by spiritual community of the Llama Foundation, they have been mindfully managing the land use to be in harmony with nature. The goji berries, fruits and vegetables are all organically cultivated and the chickens are free range. All of the cabins are heated with wood fire stoves, and much of the electricity is generated from solar energy.
The eco lodge is part of a recycling program and uses only use eco friendly cleaners, dish/laundry detergents. The Eco lodge’s water comes from four deep wells, fed by mountain aquifers.
Lodging Options & Pricing
There are 10 original buildings in the eco-village that have been renovated and updated to serve as a retreat for artists and spiritual seekers. Each lodging option has its own bathroom, hot shower, wood burning stove, queen bed,and full kitchen. There is wifi available and shared laundry onsite for the village. There are 5 types of lodging options:
The Trading Post 
(Sold Out)
The Trading Post is a large three bedroom adobe-log cabin that was formerly a country store and post office for the small village of San Cristobal. Katrina and Michael will be hosting the retreat from here. There are 2 rooms available for attendees: one room comes with a queen bed, and the other has 2 twins. There is 1 large, beautiful bathroom and shower.
Poet’s Cabin (1-2 people) 
The Poet’s View, is the west duplex of the former dairy barn. It has a great view and the large west facing window looks out over the goji berry orchard. To the north, the view is of an apple orchard and in the south there is an enclosed garden area. The cabin is about 500 sq ft with a kitchen and a bathroom. The cabin is fully furnished with a queen bed, a leather chair, table, chairs, dresser and a wood fire stove.
The Huxley Cabin (Sold Out) 
The Huxley Cabin sleeps 1-3 people with 1 queen size bed and a queen bed-sofa. Fully equipped kitchen with a fridge, gas stove. There is a small enclosed garden area in the back and the bathroom has a good sized shower.

Writer’s Cabin (1-3 people)
The Writer’s Cabin is the east duplex of a former dairy barn and has a 500 sq ft studio room, a
kitchen and bathroom with a shower. There is a queen bed, a sofa-bed, table and chairs, wood fire stove
and a propane heater. To the north is a view of an apple orchard and to the south a small fish pond.

Private Cabins (1-2 people)
There are 3 private cabins each (Dorthy Betts Cabin, Georgia O’Keefe Cabin, and Frieda Lawrence Cabin) with 1 queen bed, bathroom, shower, kitchen, wood burning stove and propane heater. All of the cabins are within close walking distance to the main Trading Post Lodge.
Meals
All meals are included with the retreat, except lunch on Saturday. Friday and Saturday night dinners will be specially prepared by
our local chef Karen Todd for the yoga retreat served under vistas of Sangre de Christo Mountain. **There are vegetarian and gluten free options. Please let us know if you have and dietary needs. **
* Friday night dinner will be a family style gathering at the Trading post created by Chef Karen.
*Saturday will start with an continental breakfast (fruit, coffee/tea, coffee cake, juice, cereal, oatmeal, etc) at the trading Post. You will have free time from 12pm-7pm and lunch is on your own toady. Dinner is at the Trading Post with second meal with chef Karen

Ojo Caliente Hot Springs Resort

Ojo Caliente Hot Springs is a world renowned destination for its healing waters. We will visit the sulphur-free, geothermal mineral waters with a full-day pass on Sunday, June 19. The sacred waters flow from a subterranean, volcanic aquifer into the 11 soaking pools. We will be smoking in these pools and receiving the incredible energy of the Rio Grande Gorge and the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. With the fragrance of piñon pines and sage filling the air, we will hold our culminating practice and ceremony at the hot springs.
About Taos, NM
The area of Taos has long been know as a spiritual and energetic vortex. Cradled at the base of Taos Mountain, the historic town is flanked by the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range as they descend down to the high desert plains bisected by the Rio Grande Gorge. The natives say that the spirit of Taos Mountain sees through to your true spirit and initiates a shamanic journey to heal the soul.

About your Guides: Katrina and Michael

Katrina Gustafson
Owner and founder of Karma Yoga Center, Katrina Gustafson is a certified yoga instructor who has been leading retreats and teaching yoga for 12 years. Yoga has transformed her life so vastly that she left her 12 year career as a high school Language Arts teacher to pursue the practice of yoga wholeheartedly. Her teaching style is a heart-centered vinyasa (flow) with an emphasis on the spiritual aspects of the practice. She is a student of internally renown master teacher Saul David Raye. Katrina subscribes deeply to the practice of bhakti (devotional) yoga. She works hard on maintaining the integrity of this ancient practice while bringing it into the 21st century. Though yoga brings her deep joy, her greatest passion is loving on her two boys Maximus and Boden and her talented partner Michael Shankara.
Michael Shankara
Michael is a certified yoga teacher and Shaman. He weaves together the practices and wisdom of Bhakti Yoga with Mayan Shamanism. Initiated into the sacred wisdom of the Maya, Michael is the sole apprentice under elder, high priest and shaman Don Miguel Angel Vergara. Michael is also a professional musician and former tropical biologist. Together, he and Katrina own and operate Karma Yoga Center.
Driving to Taos Goji Eco Lodge San Cristobal, NM
The Summer Solstice Yoga Retreat is taking place at the Taos Goji Eco Lodge and Farm in San Cristobal, NM. San
Cristobal is 11 miles north of Taos just off Highway 522 into town. Please plan your own transportation to the retreat. If you are interested in carpooling please let us know and will work to connect you with other attendees who want to share rides.
The most direct route take about 4 1/2hrs, which is taking I25 South, to US 160 W, to CO 159 S., to NM 522 S. The retreat officially starts at 5pm on Friday, June 17th. Attendees can start arriving and checking into their lodging at 3:30pm.
