I’m a Love Kamikaze!

Namaste Friends!

First let me tell you how much fun Lisa (bff) and I had on our road trip to Bhakti Fest out in the Mojave Desert.   Bhakti means devotion or spiritual love.  The festival was inaugurated two years ago on Sept. 11th to help bring good, loving energy back to that day, that nine years ago dropped the world to its feet.  This was only its second year and over 4,000 people gathered in the desert to honor all that is sacred and divine.  Lisa and I  car-danced our way there and back.  And then, while we were there we danced and sang and did yoga all day and night.  We had a full week in what was dubbed the “bhav” , short for bhavana or spiritual vibration. What a blessing to be able to go to an event designed to open hearts and spill out love through music and yoga.  Bands played from 8 am til 5am everyday on three different stages, and yoga classes where held all day long on an additional 3 stages.

Sept 11th also happens to be the day that India celebrates Ganesh’s b-day, the elephant headed diety who is known to help remove the obstacles in our path…and so we took a yoga class from MC Yogi who led us through a Ganesh inspired yoga class, and then proceeded to do a live rap of his hit “Ganesh is Fresh“.  The energy and vibration in the “bhav” was so strong and full of love that I thought I was a Love Kamikaze…I wanted to hug everyone and everything to death.  It was a good reminder of how important it is to surround ourselves with people who have good intentions and emit a positive vibration.  The atmoshere was full of joy and happiness.  Peace and hope were not far-fetched ideas, instead they were a means to an end…or a new beginning.  Sure, its easy to ride the wave when you are on the board in the curl, but then how do you sustain the “bhav” after the wave has rolled into shore?  Through rememberance.  The ancients taught us to engrain in our hearts on a cellular level all that is good and right so that when life presents us obstacles we can reach to our hearts and recall those hopeful vibrations.

Going to Bhakti Fest was an injection of love, peace, and spiritual connection into the vein of my soul.  I fell deeper in love with this divine life.  And, as if the music, yoga, and energy of the festival wasn’t enough…I discovered Michael Franti’s rarely found album “Love Kamikaze: The Lost Sex Singles“.  Seriously?  Jai Ganesh!  Now that is a happy ending to a great road trip.

Change of Seasons and a Change in Schedule

We have a new schedule coming out starting today…just in time for the Autumn Equinox.  We are adding in a Mommy and Me series on Tuesday at 3-4pm; Sunrise Yoga at a 6:15am for the early birds on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; and don’t forget about Sunday Sadhana…new time at 11:00-12:00, this is chanting, meditation, and scripture study with amazing teachers who rotate each Sunday.  This week is Santosh.  We also have some new teachers on board, welcome Kat Saks, Jessi Trujillo, Tanya Hanford, Amanda Doll, and Denise Cook.  Some of the class times have changed and some teachers have switched classes.  Ryan Hader is taking over my Monday night class starting next week…if you haven’t had one of his classes yet…you are missing out!  Come in and see what we have going on…and remember to surround yourself with with good hearts and happy souls.

Mark your calendar for next year…Sept. 11th 2011…Bhakti Fest in Joshua Tree…see you there.

Much love,

Katrina
