Meditative Creatives ~ Daily Art Classes

Meditative Creatives | Daily Art Classes

Every Weekday | Mon, Tue, Wed, Thu & Fri  | 1:30 -3:30 pm

About

This is an opportunity to tap into the creative fires that burn deep in your soul. We are pleased to offer an intuitive and creative outlet for our Great Spirit to express itself.

We have an amazing staff of creative instructors teaching 5 meditative art classes. Everybody has shakti, or creative life force. This is an opportunity to explore that part of yourself more consciously and with seasoned guidance. Each facilitator will start with a centering activity to help guide you into your Hridyam heart, or your spiritual heart. From there, you can better tune into what wants to express from your deeper, more authentic Self.

We believe if one looks deep within and explores all the parts of themselves with discipline and devotion – one will surely come to see that they are beyond this world of limited thinking -that through kindling the fire of the Hridyam heart – they have a magic that allows for them to dwell in a state of eternal bliss.

The wand is faith, and the potion is devotion.
The outcome is creative expression that reveals the Truth of everything.

Once we have centered in on our authentic fires of creative force- we will be masterfully guided to design a creative expression of our Soul, and if we meditate with it, we will discover some beautiful insights into our karma and dharma.

Meditative Intuitive Art

Meditative Intuitive Art ~ Meditative Creative~ @ Karma Yoga Center Art Class

Mondays | 1:30-3:30 pm

Come together in community and be creative! In this weekly workshop, we will explore intuitive art as a flowing, meditative, and relaxed experience. We will start with a short meditation/breathwork followed by intuitive art. Our aim will be to embrace the creative process with minimum focus on the end result. We will work on a different art project each week to include meditative mandalas, intuitive painting, collage, collaborative art, dot painting, sun catchers, and more. You will be encouraged to follow your intuition, allow the art to manifest and flow, enjoy the creative process, and hold space for self and each other.

Sacred Geometry

Sacred Geometry ~ Meditative Creative~ @ Karma Yoga Center Art Class

Tuesdays | 1:30-3:30 pm

Sacred Geometry is an ancient spiritual and meditative art practice that bridges the worlds of spirit and matter. From the Yogis to the Greeks to the Mayas, cultures throughout history understood that Sacred Geometry forms the underlying language and process through which Spirit creates the Universe in all its wonder and beauty. Behind our changing physical reality lie eternal principles and patterns that shape everything we experience. These sacred patterns appear in temples worldwide – from soaring cathedrals to ancient pyramids – and serve as the language through which nature creates our bodies, the stars, and all majestic forms that embody Spirit. In this our weekly Meditative Creative, you’ll learn about and practice drawing and creating Sacred Geometry. See these sacred principles in nature, art, biology, cosmology, mathematics, design, astronomy, physiology, cathedrals, pyramids, temples and stars.

You’ll begin with basic tools: A compass, a straight edge, a pencil and paper. That’s it. There is no math or no measuring required. We will only be drawing circles and straight lines to create the beautiful and philosophical forms of geometry. We will create simple yet profound mandalas and forms of nature, including the Seed of Life, A pentagon flower, The Star Tetrahedron (Shiva/Shakti Triangles), and the Vesica Pisces.

Then…we will get to color and play with the designs to express our creative eye as we listen to music and share our thoughts and perceptions.

All drawing supplies will be provided for use during the workshop – no need to bring or purchase anything additional.

This class is perfect for beginners, the curious, and seekers. No prior knowledge or artistic experience required.

Untangled Mind

Untangled Mind ~ Meditative Creative~ @ Karma Yoga Center Art Class

Wednesdays | 1:30-3:30 pm

Untangled Mind is a guided art experience where chaos transforms into calm. Through simple practices using lines, repetition, and expressive patterns, you’ll learn how to turn entangled images into meaningful artwork.

This process is more than creative—it’s meditative. As you engage with each technique, you may find a sense of tranquility emerging, helping to quiet the mind and release internal clutter.

Each session explores different styles and methods, offering variety while remaining accessible. This group welcomes all levels—from those who feel they “aren’t creative” to experienced artists. You can choose to follow structured guidance or explore freely at your own pace.

Using simple tools like ink, pencil, and markers, these techniques can easily carry into your daily life, becoming a personal practice for grounding and self-expression.

All materials are provided. Just bring yourself and an open mind.

Funky Fridays

Funky Fridays ~ Meditative Creative~ @ Karma Yoga Center Art Class

Fridays | 1:30-3:30 pm

When we allow ourselves to play with arts and crafts we give our soul an outlet to communicate and express – and that might be the communication we need to better understand ourselves- or it might be communication the world needs to help encourage everyone to grow and evolve into the best versions of themselves . Either way- creative time is a way to give ourselves some much needed down time.

Katrina has a gentle and easy approach to art- all sense of competition is removed and everyone is allowed to explore various techniques in order to find what works best for their Spirit.

Funky Fridays are a compilation of art practices- we will use mixed media approach and try to re-use or upcycle things around the house to help repurpose items. Each week will be a new offering – ranging from mosaics to beading- painting to collaging. Whatever project we tackle- it will be designed to help reveal a little bit of ourselves – to ourselves. All supplies provided.

About Your Art Teachers

Katrina Marie Gustafson (Funky Fridays)
Katrina has always been using her creative skills in some capacity- whether it’s decorating the studio, writing articles, or crafting an art piece in her kitchen- she loves to access the limitless possibilities that come through our beautiful minds. As a former high school Language Arts teacher-she realized that helping people to tap into their creativity was one of her many callings. She believes that our creativity is a gift of our spiritual nature and when we access our creative flow, we open a connection to our High Self.
The mermaid of the mountains, Katrina Marie seeks the heights of the peaks and the depths of the oceans in her practice. Through the wisdom of the heart, her purpose is to help guide others to open their own. She has studied in the temples of India, the pyramids of Mexico, and in the crucible of modern life — finding the sacred in the rhythm of the seasons, the stars, and every second of life.

As the founder and creator of Karma Yoga Center in Denver — now in its third location after 17+ years of serving the community — Katrina brings the Bhakti from all wisdom traditions to her yoga classes — singing, chanting, dancing, and journeys into the heart. She weaves in the teachings of her yoga mentor Saul David Raye and the cosmic knowings from the lineage of Evolutionary Astrology, filling every session with love and luminous presence.

Beyond the yoga mat, Katrina offers Spiritual Counseling and Energy Clearings — two of her most beloved offerings — drawing on years of teaching and her studies in Dr. David Frawley’s Vedic counseling program. Her sessions are warm, grounding, and deeply restorative, helping people find their way back to themselves.

Together with her beloved partner Michael Shankara, they share their journey as “The Shaman & The Mermaid” — offering teacher trainings, retreats, spiritual immersions, workshops, and free Full Moon astrological forecast videos. Their mission is to build community, share the spiritual teachings, and inspire others on their own path of self-discovery.

Janelle Jay (Untangled Mind)
Janelle is a lifelong seeker—always learning, growing, experimenting, and reading. Deeply attuned to nature, she draws inspiration from the moon’s cycles, the shifting seasons, and the quiet intelligence of the natural world. Her creative practice is rooted in observing how nature flows and applying those rhythms to both her art and her life. She studied at the Art Institute of Colorado and attended the C.G. Jung Institute’s Winter Intensive Program in Zürich in 2019, experiences that deepened her understanding of symbolism, psyche, and the creative process. Since 2023, Janelle has been leading mindful art groups in healing spaces across Denver. With more than 30 years of experience creating art and jewelry, she has discovered that the repetitive rhythm of making naturally brings her into a meditative state. She believes that creating together fosters connection, collective energy, and mindfulness—and she’s passionate about guiding others to make the practice uniquely their own.

After navigating periods of deep depression, Janelle found that yoga, spirituality, mindfulness, and playful creativity offered her a meaningful way through those darker states. These tools continue to shape her work and her approach to supporting others.

Janelle’s path has also been shaped by years of working with children—as a substitute teacher, a nanny, a birthday event planner, and the creator of the kids’ program at the Omni Interlocken Hotel. Through these roles, she witnessed how naturally children imagine, explore, and interact with the world, and how often adults forget the importance of play. She believes that reconnecting with play is essential for all ages, and she loves helping adults rediscover the child within who still longs to create, explore, and delight in the world.

At the heart of Janelle’s work is a simple truth: at any age, we desire connection—to each other, to nature, and to the ideas waiting to be brought into being.

Michael Shankara (Sacred Geometry)
Michael Shankara is a yoga teacher, Mayan shaman/priest, astrologer, Qi Gong practitioner, sacred geometer, and author of I Am the Snake ~ In Lak’Ech — a work of spiritual initiation and alchemy weaving together Mayan teachings and ancient wisdom traditions from around the world.

He is an initiated apprentice of Dr. Don Miguel Angel Vergara, a revered Mayan Elder, Wisdom Keeper, Mayan Priest, and former cultural director of the sacred Chichen Itza Pyramids. This lineage deeply enriches Michael’s work to understand and share universal and perennial spiritual teachings from many ancient wisdom traditions.

Integrating his shamanic and yogic training, Michael offers transformative experiences through music, sound healing, crystal healing, energy healing, and astrology readings. With over a decade of study in Western, Mayan, Greek, Vedic, Native, and Chinese astrology, he brings deep wisdom to his teachings. Michael also shares the principles of sacred geometry through engaging drawing classes, seminars, and workshops, and blends Taoist and Vedic yoga to help students balance Mind, Body, and Spirit.

Together with his beloved partner Katrina, they co-own Karma Yoga Center in Denver. As “The Shaman & The Mermaid,” they create a loving community offering teacher trainings, retreats, spiritual immersions, classes, workshops, and insightful teachings — including free Full Moon astrological forecast videos. Their mission is to build community, share the spiritual teachings, and inspire others to embark on their own transformative journeys of self-discovery, empowerment, healing, and spiritual growth.
