“Go Forth Into the Light…” Yes, this is always the eternal guidance from the yogis and the ancients. The essence of your eternal Soul is the Hridyam Heart, described as 10,000 Suns at the center of your being. It is eternal, infinite, and everywhere at once.

Our theme this month reflects that light on several levels. Astrology- in it’s essence- is the study of Light. In Sanskrit, the name for astrology is “Jyotisha,” which means light, and “Astro,” which means star or cosmic light. We are also at the darkest point on the wheel of the year. The days are short, and the nights are long. However, on Dec 21, the Winter Solstice, the Sun resurrects from the underworld, and for 6 months until the Summer Solstice, the light of the Sun grows each day. Many stories, rituals, ceremonies, and celebrations honor that inner light being reborn and resurrected into our consciousness during the dark season. This is the time of year to find the light of the inner heart, the sacred and holy heart.

This cycle of light starts with the Gemini Full Moon on Dec 15 and Mercury turning Direct. Gemini is the journey and inquiry by the seeker to overcome life’s duality. So, this full moon illuminates many paradoxes, contradictions, and mystical reconciliations of the heart. Mercury rules the sign of Gemini and further guides this full moon by shifting directions and moving forward into the light. Mysterious things may happen, appear, or disappear, and many contradictions are revealed as part of the path of life. If you hold them in the Hridyam Heart with compassion, forgiveness, and presence, then there is the potential for all things to be reconciled- even if the mind cannot wrap itself around the mystery.

Winter Solstice initiates on Dec 21 as the Sun moves into the star sign of Capricorn. This is the point of resurrection and rebirth on the wheel of the year. The sign of Sagittarius marks the last third of Autumn and the darkest point of the year. Capricorn is the rebirth of the Light and the growth of the Cycle of Time back to the External Light and Illumination. Capricorn rules Karma & Dharma, Wisdom, and Self-Authority. Tune into this powerful time of year. You are the Seasons and the Turning of the Wheel of the Year. Honor this time with prayer, meditation, ceremony, fire, and celebration.

Chiron turns direct on Dec 29, and the Capricorn New Moon is Dec 30. Chiron has been retrograde since July and now the Wounded Healer and Master Teacher moves forth into the light with a new cycle of the new moon. This can be an offering to find your empowerment, optimism, peace, and Self-Authority. It also marks the energy of the coming year of 2025. Use this light energy to lift your Will and Consciousness in 2025. We create what we choose.

Finally, all of the personal planets will change signs. This is a changing of light.
