Spirit Medicine…

Good Day Sunshine!
I love the spirit of late spring/early summer. Its not too hot. Its not too cold. Its in-between and just right. So many of my favorite garden flowers are blooming now-peonies, poppies, iris, alliums, roses, columbines…its as if the world is exploding with color and joy. The mountains are lush with a green velvety base and yet they still have their crisp bright, white, snow-capped crown chakras. The rivers are gushing with abundance, and the little creatures are busy tending to their babies.
Oh my heart! Mother Nature looks healthy and happy and harmonious! And we get to soak in this glorious energy that is intrinsically feeding our souls with a much needed sense of well-being. Yes- the spirit of this season is pure medicine.
Michael and I are currently in the San Juan Islands off the coast of Washington. We are hosting our Whales and Tales Yoga Retreat on Whidbey Island. We came out a couple of days early to get set up and we were instantly flooded with the spirit medicine of this sacred place.
In recent times, we have been introduced to the concept of Blue Zones-places on the globe where people seem to live longer, healthier lives and it is purported to be in correlation to their diet, exercise, and stress levels. I have no doubt that living in a warm climate; eating a balanced, fresh, whole foods diet; getting sufficient exercise; and keeping my stress levels to a minimum would increase my longevity.
Makes total sense. Thats not really rocket science.
But I would venture to say that if you were to set a heart-felt intention in a place with strong spirit medicine you would also live a long and prosperous life.
I call this the Golden Zone.-
Its like a blue zone, but its more than a healthy and fit lifestyle, it also incorporates honoring the spirit of the land and the people that is in all creation.
Fortunately, there are still a few unadulterated and wildly natural places on this globe that still have a ton of spirit medicine: A part of the earth that hasn’t been tamed, domesticated, or drained of its prana-or life force energy. It still has verve and vitality- and most importantly, true essence.
This goes the same for people-there are still some people who honor their unadulterated, wild, authentic self. They have strong prana, and hold true to their spirit essence.
Thank goodness for these souls. I usually keep them close to my heart when I meet them.
But sadly, it is increasingly more difficult to encounter these people and places of true spiritual connection. Our collective consciousness has become so clouded and deluded with the superficial wants and desires of the material plane, that we have completely forgotten who we truly are at a core level. We are spirit beings having a human experience. Not the other way around.
We are losing connection to our spirit.
We don’t listen to our intuition, we Google it.
We don’t write from our heart with our authentic voice, we use ChatGPT.
We don’t take a walk in nature, we ride our Peloton.
We don’t seek our higher Selves, we seek a higher paying job.
We don’t look each other in the eye, we send a text.
So when I come to places like these sacred whale waters of the San Juan Islands, where the pristine virtue and vibe of spirit is still strong and alive; where the prana is palpable; where the energy is electric-it strikes a chord of remembrance of who I am on this deeper plane of existence. And I come home to my heart and pray.
May we all find the sacred and the spiritual energies of existence. May we see it in each other’s eyes. May we taste it in our food. May we feel it in our hugs. May we hear it in the wind. May we smell it in the rain. May we breath it into our hearts. May we love it back to life again.
Thank you to the whale nation for sending me this message.
Blessed be,
Katrina Marie
