Ann Bortz

Ann is an experienced registered yoga teacher (E-RYT) as well as a doctoral level clinical psychologist. Her classes are characterized by a deeply mindful, alignment based flow with the fluidity and expressiveness of dance. Emotion and meaning, as well as insights from both Buddhist and Western psychology, inform the flow each time she teaches. In addition to teaching to a mainstream population, Ann has developed yoga therapy programs for traumatized teenagers in residential care and has presented nationally on using yoga to address the emotional reactivity and arousal dysregulation in traumatized populations. She is currently in the midst of developing and implementing a manualized yoga based intervention for veterans presenting with psychological distress at the Veteran’s Administration.  Ann has studied most intensively and meaningfully with Erica Kaufman, the founder of Lila Yoga, and Michael Stone, an internationally renowned teacher of Buddhism, meditation and yoga.
