Get Back To Your True Nature…

“The goal of life is to make your heartbeat match the beat of the universe,

to match your nature with Nature.”

–Joseph Campbell

Greetings!

Every August, my family starts humming the classic Billy Madison tune, “Back to School. Back to School’, as we start getting all our ducks in a row for the return to school. The summer’s lazy days of no time frame and no schedule starts to wind down and we begin to implement a little routine back into our lives.

Perfect timing as we cross over into detail-oriented Virgo season from the playfulness of Leo season. Don’t you think it is so serendipitous for the energy of the stars to align us toward routine and organization (Sun in Virgo), and at the same time, students everywhere are shopping for school supplies and setting alarms for an earlier rise? (cue Adam Sandler singing Back to School). I mean, how much more proof for astrology being legit do you need?

As I write this, Michael and I are driving our son Bo back to Montana State in Bozeman. We have a caravan of two cars full of his life. He is a sophomore this year and gets to live off campus in his own apartment. I miss the days of buying notebooks and crayons for our back to school shopping. Now “school supplies” have a heftier price tag: bedding, kitchenware and furniture. Ahhh the olden days.

Although Bo laments having to say goodbye to to his girlfriend, friends, and family, he looks forward to the structure and routine that going back to school ushers into his life once again. He is the kid who has his meal prep list, his workout list, his daily schedule, and his long-term goals list all posted on his whiteboard above his desk. He thrives in routine.

Our oldest son, Max, is a senior this year at the University of Wyoming and will be doing his student teaching as a secondary social studies teacher in Cheyenne, Wyoming. He too flourishes with the structure that the daily routine of school life brings to his own lifestyle, so much so that he has chosen school life as his career path. There are lesson plans to be made, bells that ring on the hour, start and stop times, cubbies and lockers. Ahhh! Life is so organized!

Michael and I too are gearing up for our back to school preparations. We have both our 200hour teacher training and our 300hour teacher training kicking off soon and we are planning and preparing our curriculum, making our schedules, dotting our i’s and crossing our t’s. And it feels good to put some focus toward planning and structure after enjoying the carefree playfulness that summer lends itself toward.

In fact, most of us are ready for things to slow down so we can get back into a routine and re-connect to our true selves. Sometimes summertime encourages our FreeBird to soar high-way high- and way far- and we get lost in the clouds of vacations, festivals, adventures, concerts, and the long days filled with light. So after a few months of chasing butterflies and loosing track of time, we need some grounding earth energy to help us re-establish home base. Or find center again.

And Viola! Just like that, its Virgo time-she is the earth mama who helps us ground down and get centered. She reminds us it is time to get organized, make lists, fine tune details, establish routines, schedule the annual health visits, get back on your yoga mat, and start to reel in the extremes of summer’s intensity. Don’t worry-summer will be back. You aren’t saying good-bye to your fun side. You are just trading in your flip flops for your Hokas for a bit. These cycles are designed to help us stay balanced.

And if you read the astrology report below from Michael, you will see that getting settled and centered back in our bodies would behoove us at this time. As a collective we will most likely experience some shake, rattle and roll over the course of the next few months.

Don’t be scared. These are necessary “disruptions from the normal programming” we have grown accustomed to over the last few hundred years. Some of the infrastructures we still have in place for “the good of the whole”- are no longer serving the community at large. And a little shake down will be good for ridding ourselves of old, tired energy.

But change is hard and we don’t like getting out of our comfort zone too much. So even though we know some beliefs, attitudes, policies, and customs are out-dated, we cling to them for comfort and ease. Time for change says the Universe.

In the meantime, ready yourself. You were made for these times. Find your center. Connect to your Great Spirit. Remember your True Self. You incarnated at this time of existence because you not only have the ability to whether the storm, but you have ideas, gifts, and healing medicine to offer as we collectively move through this radical transformation together.

Over the course of the next few months, and on into the next few years, even decade-we will begin to see radical shifts in how we do things, from healthcare, education, government, banking, workforce, housing, economics and social norms, just to name a few. You see it already. Some pieces for such changes are already in play, but the big moves will start to play out sooner than later. For example, the two big astrological squares that kick off this full moon are catalyst for said change (again, read Michael’s astrology report below to learn more).

Who knows, “back to school” might become a thing of the past, like covered wagons and women’s girdles. Sometimes what seems to be the only way for awhile eventually becomes archaic and useless.

Maybe education doesn’t need four walls, and scheduled bells. Maybe instead its a return to learning to live harmoniously with nature, studying the detail of creation in its wholistic and beautifully organized chaos. And in doing so we discover our soul’s purpose and study deeply that love in our hearts. Maybe the new back to school is returning back to our true nature.

And Virgo is still right on time-the earth mama who upholds the routines and structures of the natural world, adhering to the laws of frequency, vibration, and energy. What divine timing.

Enjoy and welcome some needed respite from summer’s playful energy and settle back into some grounding routines. Organize your little bits and stay close to Mama Earth-she is our true teacher for these times.

Much love,

Katrina
